Updated: Jul 31, 2020
While on vacation, we are sure you have lived in cottages and rooms. But how about trying living in a tree house? We have all fantasized about the idea of living in a tree house as kids. Here are 5 homestays in Konkan which offer stunningly beautiful tree house stays which will get you closer to nature. What’s more? All these tree-houses come with functional and lavish bathrooms!
Run by Mithil Pitre and his father, O’Nest is located in Devrukh, which is a relatively unknown village in Konkan and away from the main tourist attractions in Ratnagiri. The concept emerged from a mission to promote the rural life in Konkan and getting travelers back to their roots. Pottery, traditional fishing, mango and cashew picking are some activities which are offered at O’Nest. Regular rooms are available for the less-adventurous lot. But the tree-house here is a wooden hut built on a mango tree with a quaint sit-out. Definitely one of the best tree-houses we have seen!

Shivam Abode aka Satyam Shivam Sundaram is located at a scenic village called Munawali near Alibaug and Kihim beaches and is owned and managed by Shekhar Bhagwat. What started as a personal farmhouse has now turned into one of the best homestays in the area. The whole place is built using eco-friendly building material and Mr. Bhagwat grows his own organic produce. Aptly named as ‘Parambi’ which means the aerial roots of the banyan tree, the tree-house at Shivam Abode is a large cottage, built using eco friendly and natural material. The most interesting part of the tree house is that a stream flows right underneath. The sounds of the gushing water and the bird chirping make this one dreamy place to stay!

Imagine a homestay tucked away on a hill and surrounded by acres of fruit and spice trees, tall trees, lush green hills and birds and butterflies for company. You get all of this at Nisarg Sahvas which is owned and run by the Amrute family. It is located at village Gavhe on the outskirts of Dapoli. Started as a nursery and a family home, Ashish Amrute has now converted this place into one of the most popular homestays in the area. There are cottages, bamboo huts, log huts available here, but the main attraction is the stunning and adventurous tree house which is built more than 30 feet high using the support of Jamun and Neem trees! The concept of a homestay has been gaining popularity throughout India. Living in a homestays while on vacations, enables travelers to have an enriching and immersive experience. Atithi Parinay, located in Kotawade village in Ratnagiri is a ‘home-stay’ in its truest forms. The mother-daughter duo, Vasudha and Medha Sahasrabudhe have opened their ancestral home to travelers looking for a real Konkan experience. The accommodation options include traditional cottages, luxury tents, large lavish rooms in the house, but we would recommend the tree house. The cozy tree house at Atithi Parinay is perfect for a couple. It overlooks the family farms on one side and a gushing stream on the other.

Oceano Pearl is strategically located by the Ganeshgule Beach, which is one of the most beautiful beaches on the Konkan stretch. The Ganeshgule village does not have any other hotels, which makes the adjoining white-sand beach like a private beach for the guests at Oceano Pearl. The location is secluded, with no mobile or internet connectivity. But one can experience the Konkan lifestyle with acres of mango, jackfruit, kokam and cashew orchards. The place is run by Mithil Pitre and his tea, who offer all the modern amenities. The tree house at Oceano Pearl probably one of the best views as it overlooks the beach. An added attraction is that, it can accommodate a complete family and is fully air-conditioned. Highly recommended!
