The Western Routes
The Western Routes is a travel company I founded in 2012. After spending a few years exploring in India and abroad, I decided to come back home and introduce the rich diversity and beauty of my home state Maharashtra to the world. The concept found its roots in my love for the state and its native culture. We started with experiences that highlighted the natural, cultural and traditional aspects of Maharashtra - From a visit to the forts of the Konkan coast or a weekend exploring the culinary heritage of Ratnagiri to hiking the Sahyadris or spending a day as a farmer planting rice.
Since 2015, The Western Routes has ventured into curating itineraries across the country which are themed around history, culture, wildlife and food. The highlight of these tours is to provide an experience of India, free of cliches and bias; an experience encompassing the warmth, beauty and culture which our country has to offer.
The Western Routes also curates city experiences targeted at expats and foreign tourists along with the locals. Through the various city tours, day excursions, festival trails, and of course the heritage and food walks, we highlight the culture of Pune. Since October 2019, The Western Routes conducts weekly heritage walks every Sunday at 9 AM.
